Dustin Smith

Dustin Smith grew up in the southwest suburbs and attended Lincoln- Way High School in Frankfort, Illinois. After graduation he attended the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign where he earned a degree in History and a minor in Anthropology. Dustin graduated college in three years and went on to attend the John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois. Dustin began his career as a criminal prosecutor in Chicago before co-founding Gruszeczki & Smith Law.

Dustin represents clients in matters ranging from DUI’s and traffic matters, to criminal offenses and Illinois Driver’s License reinstatement hearings before the Illinois Secretary of State.  Dustin also advocates for clients in personal injury cases and has successfully recovered for clients in a variety of cases ranging from car accidents, bike accidents and dog bite cases.  Dustin has also represented clients in collection matters as well as contract disputes.  In addition, he has handled many types of corporate formation including LLC’s, LLP’s, Corporations, and the drafting of partnership agreements and operating agreements.

Dustin has also successfully litigated Petitions for Orders of Protection, child support matters and divorces.  He is an experienced trial attorney who has conducted many hearings motions, bench trials and jury trials.

Dustin is also an experienced real estate attorney who has extensive experience handling transactional real estate for clients buying and selling homes, businesses and commercial properties throughout Illinois.  He is also a licensed managing real estate broker in Illinois which provides him with unique perspective and insight on all real estate matters and a better understanding of all types of Real Estate transactions.

Michael Gruszeczki

Michael Gruszeczki was born and raised on Chicago’s Northwest Side. After graduating from Fenwick High School, he attended Loyola University of Chicago, where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance. Mike attended DePaul University College of Law where he distinguished himself as a Dean’s List law student. He was honored for his academic achievements, graduating in the top of his class from DePaul in 2007. During law school, Mike also worked as a law clerk at the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office and for two different civil litigation law firms in Chicago.

After graduating from DePaul University, Mike practiced criminal and family law as an Assistant State’s Attorney for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office before co-founding Gruszeczki & Smith Law, LLP with Dustin Smith. During Mike’s tenure as an Assistant State’s Attorney, he prosecuted thousands of felony and misdemeanor cases and handled hundreds of civil hearings for child support and parentage. Mike prosecuted felony drug cases ranging from possession of a controlled substance, to delivery of a controlled substance, to criminal drug conspiracy. Mike also prosecuted felony gun charges ranging from unlawful use of a weapon to armed habitual criminal charges. Mike has also prosecuted various misdemeanors ranging from battery to retail theft, and hundreds of traffic cases, including driving with a suspended license and DUI. Mike also has extensive experience handling numerous other felony cases ranging from violent crime offenses such as Murder, Attempted Murder, Kidnapping, Sex Offenses to white collar crime offenses.

While at Gruszeczki & Smith Law, Mike has successfully represented clients in all aspects of criminal, DUI and traffic law, including Driver’s License Reinstatement Hearings at the Secretary of State. Mike has used his extensive experience and the respect he has earned from judges and prosecutors to achieve excellent results for his clients.
